PICAXE-28X2 AXE401-KIT Shield Kit. $17.95
A small self assembly board to allow rapid prototyping of PICAXE-08 circuits. Includes all components including download socket, socket for the PICAXE-08M, resistors for download and battery clip. Purchase PICAXE-08M separately. You may also require a battery holder and either an AXE-026 serial or AXE-027 USB download cable or with the adaptor shown below. $4.49.
Note that the following items are not products of and are not manufactured by Revolution Education in the UK.
This assembled board from provides a good deal of flexibility in interfacing your PC USB port with the PICAXE. Note that I have programmed the FTDI FT245R to provide the necessary inversions of TX and RX to directly interface with the PICAXE.
. With Configuration #1 note that you have access to +5 VDC, GRD, TX and RX. You can simply interface with your breadboard or similar by plugging wires into the female header. An alternative is to solder on a straight male six terminal header and plug the unit into a solerless breadboard.
Note that the package includes the assembled USB board, a six foot USB type A male to Mini male cable, two six terminal female headers and a straight six term male header.
As noted, I have programmed the FT232R for inverted TX and RX. (Idle is near GRD). If you later desire to program as true TTL (idle near +5 VDC) for some appication, use .
During the 2010 summer I will be introducing a redesign of the USB BUB Board. In this application, it is functionally the same.
Powered by a USB Port. Package includes the 830 point solderless breadboard, the USB board and associated mini USB cable (6 feet), the PICAXE of your choice, the LEDs as shown and a bundle of 22 awg solid wire. This is fully assembled with the PICAXE running a flashing light program.
Note that the above shows a PICAXE-20X2. The Green LED is montoring +5 VDC power supplied by the USB Port and the red LED hanging off the PICAXE is flashing. The USB Board is providing the +5 VDC and also the serial interface.
Note that you can easily modify this to interface with any PICAXE.
